Hail Cross Section

There was a storm in the spring that produced marble sized hail.  I gathered some on a plate and placed it in the freezer.  A while back I removed the plate and let it melt some before photographing it.  Here is a cross section of pieces of the hail that fused together.

Bradford Pear Tree Split in Two by Ice Storm

Here is a Bradford Pear tree that got split in two by ice storm weeks ago. It is some sad because there is a row of these trees and that is the third one to be destroyed by bad weather in the last year.

I have planted some peach trees near these Bradford Pears that I hope will do okay. Cicadas attacked them last year and I hope they will now survive the winter.

Bradford Pear Bud in Ice

Here is the bud of a Bradford Pear tree in ice. I was trying to catch a drop in mid air as it fell from the tip of the icicle but was not patient enough.
